Hong 10

Ok, so this post is really just an excuse I have to put on my headphones and listen to Kelly Clarkson's new album that came out today.  So far, it's pretty freakin good.

Ok, so now a bit about Hong 10.  He is Korean.

Why do I love Hong 10?

Hong 10 is a BBoy.

What is a BBoy?

"He is a BBoy", or "I saw Hong 10  B-Boying."  In other words, it's short for breakdancing.   There are things I love that I am passionate about, and BBoying is one of them.

But now I'm a retired gymnast.  Or rather, I'm a crippled gymnast since my crash of 09'.

And as a result, breakdancing is also a thing of the past, but I can still watch it.

Everyone who watches even just 15 seconds of breakdancing absolutely loves it, so I wonder why it's not more popular.  It isn't rap, or punk even, but rather BBoy is all about peace and love.

So I thought I share a BRIEF description of it all.

This is one of my favorite crews.  They are called "Gamblerz Crew".  The cool thing about this picture is they were all dancing, and then for a split second they all froze, and that's when this picture was taken.
Skip two minutes into the below video.  What you'll see is a "crew".  Basically when you're a legit BBoy, you join a crew.  They perform together and battle other crews and such.

A Sample Of Paragraphs

The following was sent out to various people who currently play a significant role in my life.  Below you will see their responses.
"Please write me a paragraph.  I shall put it on my blog.  I am intentionally not giving any further instruction.

:)

Jimmy/James"

Here they are in the order in which they replied:

Buddy Lindsey
James,

I am glad you are my best friend. There are lots of things we can laugh about that nobody else can laugh about, though we do share some of those things (but not all) with precious few others. I wish your shoulder wasn't injured. Get married soon. Haha, I'm sorry if this paragraph was boring. S-T-A-T-I-S-T-I-C-S.

I chewed on a tree stump while peeing on a needle in a haystack. I then stuffed a pillow into my ear and tried to draw a picture of Obama with my nose, and i lost 30 pounds. I ran to Africa to say hi to sadam hussein. I killed Steve jobs with an android app. Refrigerator.

Ben Buhr

"LOL I had Ben write a paragraph, too, but I'm afraid it's not rated for family reading.  LOL he makes me laugh."
-Christy Hales Buhr

Brian Hales (Dad)

James , aka Jimmy, Hales rocks.  He has a sweet blog and is an amazing kid.  He's multi-talented playing several musical instruments, he's a gymnast, very athletic, intensely spiritual, righteous, and makes his parents proud.  Also, the Church is true

Whoever came up with the idea of putting Bruno Mars + Eminem in a song together should be abused.  Have you heard this garbage?  But I do need some new music ideas for running, please.  Sougou.  And I'm going to experiment with panoramic pictures next.  Did you know my highschool football coach likes mom?!  I remember when dad went out with my cheerleading coach.  Actually I doubled with them.  lol  I love our family!!  We rock.  :)  The end.  Now I must go back to work.

By raise of hands, how many people like auto-flushing toilets?  If this were an interpersonal conversation instead of a paragraph, you would notice I am not raising my hand.  Sure, the concept is great!  No surprises left behind for the next user, no extra-stinky bathrooms, but the reality comes with consequences.  How many times have I sat down to use the bathroom on an auto-flushing toilet, when it decides to auto-flush mid-business?  Too many times to count.  And it doesn't just flush once.  Oh no.  It flushes multiple times.  Is this our version of a bidet?  Last I checked, we don't offer those in American public restrooms... or do we now, through auto-flushing toilets?  I know the economy is in a rough spot, but really?  The worst is when you're comfortably doing your business, and then you're freaked out of your mind by the sudden loud T-Rex/lion roar and an instant wet booty to accompany it.  You can't jump off, because you're not done doing your business.  If you manage to avoid a heart attack or early labor (for you who are pregnant), then you just sit there, bothered.  Truth be told, I believe that men created the auto-flushing toilet.  They rarely have to sit down, and then their business is done fiber-quick!  But ladies... it's different for us.  Many of us are not so fiber-licious, and we need a little more time.  And we don't have the stand-up option.  So I say, down with auto-flushing toilets!  Time for the creators to do a little adjusting and reinstall systems that only flush after you're done doing your business.  In an society where we're concerned with premature births, heart failure, and angry people, this could be a crucial first step.

Tracy Hales (Mom)

There once was a boy named Jimmy,

Who went on a first date to Desert Star (not many words rhyme with Jimmy - haha),
The evening was great, so it must have been fate,
And the two of them kissed from afar!

Not much of a paragraph!!!

XO
Mom

Shane Jensen

My paragraph is going to be a poem:
I sit on my bed.
The guitar stares at me.
The primary book on the keyboard speaks.
My yankee blankee won't let me leave.
While my book begs to be read.
But alas, I reach, with all of my might.
Reach to what seems the furthest point of my sight.
The music begins, I sing to sleep.
All thanks to my iPod, with the 8 G's.
Sweet as Shane.

This morning as I walked past a BYU employee who was engaging in grounds beautification I felt the urge to tell them "thank you" for what they were doing. They were kind of far away and glanced away once I looked in their direction so I figured I'd forget it and keep going. It bugged me as I kept walking though, enough that I stood around once I got to my car for a bit wondering if it was really that important that I return to thank them. I finally figured I was burning time in just sitting around wondering and I had nothing to lose anyway, so I went back and told them. I felt good about it and the person responded with a "you're welcome!" so I think it was a mutually beneficial two seconds of our lives.

Zach Romney

As I pondered on what I was going to reply, my mind traveled off into a distant land far far away called summer time.... In that land existed no Homework and all we did was dream about which Office Episode we were going to watch. Many a times we often ran into a the idea of the future and what would become of ourselves, but simply ignored this fact and decided to run back to good old procrastination. Even in the land we live now we run into procrastination every once in a while but the effects of going here a much more immediate then they were in the land of summer time. That land has since been destroyed and as we further ourselves into the further, the chances of returning to that blissful and wonderful place are growing dimmer. I have to end this paragraph by realizing that it has made no sense at all, but my brain is thankful i did not think for a few minutes...'.;'.'

Preston Purnell

You always give these strange instructions like "say 3 words," and "close your eyes. what color is so and so's shirt?" or "write a paragraph." Sometimes I wonder why your mind works differently than everyone else's. I guess you are just meant for other things. For example you can write a whole blog on virtually nothing while I cannot conjure up enough material to construct even a full paragraph. I'm afraid these few sentences will just have to do. Or I guess it just depends on how you define a paragraph.

Kurt Christensen

Guess what I am talking about:

Tear into a ____ of the meanest _______ ________ on the planet, _________ _________. We went down to the lab and cooked up a double shot of our killer ______ brew. It's a wicked mega hit that delivers twice the buzz of a regular _______ _________. _________ packs a vicious punch but has a smooth ______ you can really pound down.

P.S. Roar

Colten Lindsey

As I sit on this bed capable of adjusting to ones preferred degree of incline, having just finished a "treatment" consisting of a reverberating vest and inhaled solutions, I stare off towards the wall that hosts the boxes that encasr gloves constructed of latex, and find that the words to a paragraph that would suffice to fill the body of a foreign blog cohesively, escape me. As such this is what has been produced and provided! It inrigues me as to its use, and I beheath the author of said blog to satisfy my intrigue with a thorough explanation as soon as time permiteth him!

Two Days of My College Life: Day 2

9/27/2011 7:16 AM
This picture was a little too revealing, so I Photoshoped the towel to ride up a little higher.

9/27/2011 7:28 AM
14 minutes, BOOM!

9/27/2011 7:43 AM
This is the sand volleyball court where I live.  On the long ends of the court there aren't any nets, so if you play here you spend most of your time chasing the ball around the parking lot.

9/27/2011 7:50 AM
Through the tunnel and up the long ramp I go.

9/27/2011 7:53 AM
The dreaded crosswalk.

9/27/2011 7:54 AM
So on my way to work on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays I pass through the Talmage building to grab some breakfast out of the vending machines.

9/27/2011 7:55 AM
In front and on the right is the stupid math lab.  Basically students go there to sit and wait and wastes hours of there time, and occasionally get help from a teachers assistant.  Students would rather not go there at all, however the math department here at BYU is terrible and likes to give problems to students which require esoteric knowledge that the teacher hasn't even come close to covering.  You can probably sense I'm a little bitter towards the math department here at BYU.

9/27/2011 7:56 AM
Awesome.  They haven't re-stocked them for a while, so I couldn't buy the highly anticipated PB&J I was looking forward to.  That's OK, I'll check another place on campus.

9/27/2011 7:56 AM
Leaving the Talmage building.

9/27/2011 7:57 AM
Walking past the JFSB (Joseph F. Smith Building) on my way to the Kennedy Center where I work.

9/27/2011 7:59 AM
This is one of the doors to the Kennedy Center where I work.
9/27/2011 7:59 AM
Clocking in.  Most people punch in their student I.D. number, however, those buttons a gross and I don't like germs, so I swipe instead.

9/27/2011 8:01 AM
They didn't have PB&Js here either.

9/27/2011 8:04 AM
Breakfast

9/27/2011 8:08 AM
This is where I work.  I am a facilitator for students who want to go to China and do an internship.  China is very different than here.  Doing business is based on relationships and persuassion.  My boss, who is awesome, and I are working really hard to get more opportunities in China for students at BYU.  The other dude in the pic is my friends Grant, he is in charge of French internships and such.

9/27/2011 9:03 AM
This is the East side of the Talmage building.  It's old and smells really bad.  Notice how small the windows are.  I mean, people who spend a lot of time in this building already aren't the most social people on the planet right, why shut them away more from the wonderful outside world?

9/27/2011 9:04
Just slightly to the left of where the previous picture was taken is the West side of the Talmage building.  It is nice and new with great big windows.  This is the Computer Science side of the building and it's very very nice.  I spend my time inside this half, not the other retro side from the 60s.

9/27/2011 9:33 AM
The weather was beautiful!!  Wow, not to mention how nice campus looks.  I studied in China for six months at Nanjing University and while that campus did have a nice garden area, you can't even compare them.  If the weather permits I try to study outside as much as possible.

9/27/2011 9:33 AM
Into the library I go.

9/27/2011 9:34 AM
This is near the entrance on the library.  I took a picture of it and headed to my left and up one level to the Juvenile section.

9/27/2011 9:36 AM
This is Ephraim.  We literally share the same wall at our apartment.  He speaks Mandarin and is just an all-around cool guy.  We both study in the same part of the library and have become unofficial study buddies.
9/27/2011 10:28 AM
Ok, so this is the nearest bathroom to where I've been studying in the library for the last two and a half years.  Well, last Winter it closed for renovation.  Inside it was super old and yellow.  Since I took this picture (less than two weeks ago) it finally opened, YES!!!!  It's nice, big, and BLUE!

9/27/2011 11:16 AM
I was in Linux program for my Computer Science 360: Internet Programming class.  I was writing the software for a server, if that means anything to you.  Anyways, I am learning a lot in the class and my teacher is super cool, in fact I have loved every single one of my CS teachers.  They are not nerdy.

9/27/2011 11:46 AM
On my way out of the library to go to my class I took a picture of these closed doors.  Ok, so every Tuesday at 11:00 AM campus closes down.  There are no classes, all stores and eateries close down as well, along with computer labs and all offices.  Why?  Well, at this time every week there is a devotional on campus in the Marriott Center but are also broadcast to several places on campus in almost every building..  They are always really good.  But seriously, where' my agency BYU?  What if I want to buy a sandwich and then watch the devotional at the same time?  Anyways, by closing everything they think students will think, "Oh, it's the devotional, I better go watch it." When in reality we think, "Freakin crap I need to leave campus and go to Wendy's to eat lunch today."
9/27/2011 11:50 AM
Walking to class.

9/27/2011 11:53 AM
...Still walking...

9/27/2011 11:56 AM
...Almost There...

9/27/2011 12:02 PM
I made it!  Ok, this class is awesome for several reasons.  As you can see my friend since high school Kurt Christensen and life long best friend Buddy Lindsey are in this picture.  Having class with them is awesome.  Kurt currently has the highest score in the class.  Another reason this class rocks is because it's about Joseph Smith's life.  It's incredibly interesting and really makes me more interested in reading the Doctrine and Covenants.  However, another major reason the class is cool is because...

9/27/2011 12:04 PM
...It's taught by my Dad's lifelong best friend Uncle Baugh!!!  So am I biased towards the awesomestestness of this class?  No, because because I got in the class everyone who took it that I talked to just raved about it, so there.  Uncle Baugh's knowledge of Joseph Smith and that time period is amazing.  Class goes by crazy fast and ends way too soon.  I am learning a lot.  We feel strongly that this class should be required to take, but if that were the case more professors would need to teach it and therefor it wouldn't be nearly as good because Uncle Baugh is the best.

9/27/2011 12:57 PM
Leaving class.

9/27/2011 12:57 PM
This is Jade.  She recently got back from a mission in Taiwan and was in my ward over  this past Spring and Summer.  She's way cool and I just happened to walk past her.

9/27/2011 12:57 PM
My next class starts at 1:35 PM, so I was going to go to the Cougar Eat, a place with lots of fast food joints here on campus.

9/27/2011 1:03 PM
I cut through the book store inside of the Wilk, the main building on campus where evens are held, the big store is, the Cougar Eat, etc.

9/27/2011 1:03 PM
Here on my left you can see where I eat lunch on days that I don't go to the Canon Center.  there is often a small stage set up with some sort of live entertainment going on.

9/27/2011 1:03 PM
On the right side of me is another place I eat when I need to study when I eat, for it's less likely someone will see me and sit with me if I sit there.

9/27/2011 1:04 PM
There was a whale walking around.

9/27/2011 1:04 PM
I usually eat a Subway, but I'm kinda sick of it.  Teriyaki Stix is another place I'll go sometimes.

9/27/2011 1:05 PM
Today Teriyaki Stix one.  She didn't see me take this picture, but there person standing behind me in the line did and they probably thought I was really strange for taking it.

9/27/2011 1:06 PM
My friend Yu Long and some dude that I don't know.  Yu Long dances Hip Hop which I think is pretty sweet.

9/27/2011 1:30 PM
There is always someone I know eating there, so today I found Dalton, Mark, and their friend in the green.  We have no clue who the dude in the black is.  Neo.

9/27/2011 1:32 PM
I headed for class and saw my good ole' buddy Tian Jialin.  When I passed by him I quickly told him to stop and then quickly took his picture.  He walked away confused.
9/27/2011 1:42 PM
Here I am in my Computer Science 312: Algorithms class.  I find the material very very interesting and again love my professor.

9/27/2011 1:52 PM
And in walks Nozomi 17 minutes late haha!!

9/27/2011 1:52 PM
Nozomi was sitting behind me, but you can't see him.  The dude in the pum9/27/2011kin shirt is my buddy Justin whom I met my first semester here at BYU.  Justin and I took a Chinese course together back then and remembers me as the dude always on drugs that only had one functional arm (time of the snowboard accident).

9/27/2011 2:55 PM
Just after our algorithms class we headed downstairs to do some work on our servers.

9/27/2011 2:56 PM
On our way to the Pizza Lab we walked past the Sports Lab and inside there I saw my buddy Stan, the dude from my CS 360: Internet Programming class.

9/27/2011 3:02 PM

9/27/2011 5:23 PM

9/27/2011 5:31 PM
I left Nozomi and headed to the HFAC, a building with many pianos in practice rooms where I like to go to jam and unwind a little.

9/27/2011 5:35 PM
Good day!  I ran into Lucia!!!
9/27/2011 5:38 PM
Here I am down in the HFAC.  All of the practice rooms were full, so I left.

9/27/2011 5:39 PM
The main part of the HFAC.

9/27/2011 5:43 PM
I went to the Wilk and found a room!  These rooms are only to be used by bigger events, but I almost always find one that is unlocked.  I went it and jammed for about 45 minutes before I got kicked out.  I still didn't really have a voice, but whatever.

9/27/2011 6:08 PM
The Ryan King!!!!!  Oh man, you know it's a good week when you run into the Ryan King!  I love this guy!  He's is happy, funny, witty, and a musical genius.   I don't see this guy as much as I'd like, so the fact that I saw him on one of these two days is pretty awesome.

9/27/2011 6:15 PM
Dinner at the Cannon Center.

9/27/2011 6:16 PM
Queuing.

9/27/2011 6:16 PM
Part of the Canon Center.

9/27/2011 6:18 PM
They always have a large variety of everything.  This is only half of the deserts.

9/27/2011 6:21 PM
They often have a theme for a day.  The theme for this day was India or something.
9/27/2011 6:49 PM
Tuesday nights are "Club Night" at BYU.  I like being involved and thought I join some clubs, so up the ramp from the Canon Center and to the Wilk I go.

9/27/2011 7:24 PM
This is the Ping Pong club.  I was looking for the American Sign Language club or the Audio Engineering club.

9/27/2011 7:24 PM
I decided to fill up my water bottle at my favorite fill-up-your-water-bottle place on campus.

9/27/2011 7:28 PM
This is a fun club where those who want to perform songs on an instrument (and sing) can perform.  The audiences are usually pretty small, but that's not why these people do it.  I didn't find either of the clubs I was looking for.

9/27/2011 7:34 PM
I saw my friend Ryan, he's awesome.  We were once in the same ward.

9/27/2011 7:45 PM
Back to the library I go!
9/27/2011 7:45 PM
Here is a better shot of the nice mural in the Juvenile Section.
9/27/2011 10:16 PM
I got tired and wasn't being too effective, so I decided to call it a day.

9/27/2011 10:29 PM
On my way back to my apartment I decided to stop at the Tanner building to use the bathroom.

9/27/2011 10:32 PM
I'm sure people were wondering what I was doing when they saw me standing there as still as possible in a pose that looks like I'm walking.

9/27/2011 10:43 PM
My apartment wasn't nearly as lit as the night before, but let's see what's going on inside.

9/27/2011 10:43 PM
Ah yes, people watching a movie.

9/27/2011 10:44 PM
And then into the kitchen I go and who is waiting there for me?

9/27/2011 10:44 PM
Brenna!!!

9/27/2011 10:44 PM
Everybody loves Brenna :)

9/27/2011 10:44 PM
Then I quickly changed my clothes and went to bed.
